Floral Essence Whitewash Technique

Summer is a big time for weddings and this month's tutorial features an on-trend combination of elegant and shabby chic that's perfect for wedding and shower cards.

The rich gold heat embossing and rustic Whitewash technique are gorgeous with the Floral essence stamp set (#149450).

I also love this technique with the popular Good Morning Magnolia stamp set (#149298). I'm excited to see what you create with this technique!

Heat Emboss

Rub Embossing Buddy on 3-3/4" x 5" Crumb Cake cardstock. Stamp 3 floral images and leaves with VersaMark. Cover with Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder. Tap off excess. Heat emboss with Heat Tool. Stamp greeting on 1" x 3-1/2" Whisper White with VersaMark. Heat emboss with Gold.

Mix Whitewash

Create the Whitewash by mixing 2 drops of Whisper White Craft ink refill and 3-4 drops of water from an Aqua Painter on a Silicone Mat or stamp block. Or squeeze Whisper White Craft ink pad and mix ink and water in lid.

Whitewash & Dry

Use Aqua Painter to paint Whitewash in the flower petals. Paint neatly at edges but don't worry about staying in individual petals as the embossing resists the ink. Add a second layer of Whitewash if needed. Do not paint leaves.

Sponge

Allow to dry or dry carefully with Heat Tool - do not re-melt embossing. Once Whitewash is dry to the touch, ink a Sponge Dauber with Petal Pink and lightly flick ink from the center out. Wipe off excess ink from embossing with a tissue.

Finish

Score 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Thick Whisper White cardstock at 4-1/4" along 8-1/2" side. Layer on 4" x 5-1/4" Petal Pink cardstock. Tear ends off greeting layer. Add 4" Whisper White 5/8" Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon behind greeting. Add to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
