EMBOSSED PENCILS
I have been seeing a lot of items that are dip-dyed lately—anything from pillows, kitchen utensils, wood chairs, clothespins, baskets, metal cans, jewelry, coasters, fabric, vases—and the list goes on. I thought that this look would be cute to incorporate into a project somehow.
I was making a notebook the other day and wanted to add a little something to the pencils that went with it. I thought this would be the perfect place to try out the dip-dyed look. So here’s what I came up with:
Now instead of actually dyeing the pencils, I used our colored Stampin’ Emboss Powders (US/CAN) to create the same look. They were so simple to make! I just rolled the pencil in VersaMark ink and poured the embossing powder over the pencil. Then I used my Heat Tool to emboss it.
I just love how the colored embossing gave the pencils the perfect pop of color! There are so many ideas that can come from just everyday life. Next time you come across something that you think would work as a technique on your project, give it a try!
